Old Simeon was a good and honest man, and a loyal servant of God. The Holy Spirit told Simeon that he would not die until he had seen to the Messiah - the promised deliverer, as a reward for his faithfulness. When he met Mary and Joseph in Jerusalem, he recognised baby Jesus as the Messiah and he was overjoyed.
