There are several Pharaohs mentioned in the Bible, especially in the stories of Abraham, Joseph and Moses, but none of them are named. The Pharaohs were kings of Egypt. During a famine, Abraham and Sarah travelled to Egypt for food. Pharaoh wanted Sarah for his wife but, when he discovered she was already married, Abraham and Sarah had to leave the country.
This part of Pharaoh's story is found in Geneses, chapter 12, verses 10-12.
Mistaken identities are also found in the stories of Jacob tricking blind dad Isaac, young Samuel waking up Eli and Mary Magdalene speaking to the gardener at Jesus' tomb.
Pharaoh will appear in our Kings & Queens game.

The Israelites were forced to work as slaves by the Egyptians. Moses and his brother Aaron pleaded with Pharaoh to release the Israelites from captivity. Pharaoh agreed, then changed his mind, repeatedly - even after a series of disastrous plagues (see Moses & the Plagues of Egypt for full story). After the tenth plague, Pharaoh finally released the people. When they had left, he changed his mind again and sent his army to capture them. Pharaoh's mighty army was destroyed in the waters of the Red Sea (see Moses Crosses the Red Sea for whole story).
This part of Pharaoh's story is found in Exodus, chapter 7, verse 8 to chapter 12, verse 32 and chapter 14, verses 5-31.
Rivers are also found in the stories of Joshua entering the Promised Land, Elijah's hiding place from King Ahab, Elisha's floating axehead and Jesus' baptism by his cousin John.
