Paul (then called Saul) went to the High Priest in Jerusalem and asked for permission to go to Damascus to arrest any followers of Jesus that he found there. They would then be brought back to Jerusalem for trial.

As Paul and companions neared the city, suddenly a bright light from heaven flashed around him. Paul fell to the ground and a voice challenged him about his actions. Paul asked who was speaking and the voice revealed that it was Jesus. Paul was told to continue his trip to Damascus where he would be told what to do. Paul had been blinded by the light so his colleagues had to guide him. For three days he could not see, and did not eat or drink anything.

In Damascus, God sent Ananias to Judas' house on Straight Street to meet Paul where he restored Paul's sight. Paul believed in the power of God and was baptised. Some of the Jews thought Paul had betrayed them by joining the Christians and plotted to kill him. They watched the city gates day and night to make sure he did not escape.

One night, Paul's new friends lowered him from the city walls in a basket. He returned to Jerusalem where the disciples were a bit unsure about his conversion until Barnabas spoke up for him. Paul became a great preacher and writer, and travelled all around the Mediterranean region teaching people about Jesus.
