Paralysed man

  • When Jesus visited the town of Capernaum, a large crowd gathered to see and hear him. Four men carried their paralysed friend on his bed to be healed by Jesus. There was such a crowd that they could not get near the house. 
  • This part of the paralysed man's story is found in Mark, chapter 2, verses 1-3 and Luke, chapter 5, verses 17-18.
  • The paralysed man does not appear in any Lootro games yet but watch this space for news.

Roof

  • When they found they couldn't get into the house, the men carried their friend onto the roof. They removed the tiles and lowered the man, on his mat, into the middle of the crowd.
  • This part of the paralysed man's story is found in Mark, chapter 2, verse 4 and Luke, chapter 5, verse 19.

Bed

  • Recognising the men's faith, Jesus healed him. Jesus told the man to take his mat and go home. The people were amazed at Jesus' power but his actions angered the religious leaders. 
  • This part of the paralysed man's story is found in Mark, chapter 2, verses 5-12 and Luke, chapter 5, verses 20-26.
  • Beds are also found in the stories of the plague of frogs in Egypt, Potiphar's wife's attempted seduction of Joseph, Samuel's disturbed sleep, and Elijah and the widow's son.

Swirling waters

  • On another occasion, Jesus met a paralysed man lying beside the Pool of Bethesda in Jerusalem. The man had been there for years as he believed the water had healing powers. He had no-one to carry him into the pool when the waters stirred. Jesus healed the man and instructed him to pick up his mat and walk home.   
  • This part of the other paralysed man's story is found in John, chapter 5, verses 1-14.
  • Swirling waters are also found in the stories of Moses crossing the Red Sea, Joshua crossing the River Jordan into Canaan, Jonah's failed escape attempt and Peter climbing out of the boat.
