Naaman

  • Naaman was a military commander in the army of King Aram of Syria. He was a brave soldier but suffered from the skin disease leprosy.
  • This part of Naaman's story is found in 2 Kings, chapter 5, verse 1.
  • Naaman does not appear in any Lootro game yet but could be used as an answer for an Old Testament person in Ballyhoo!

Servant

  • A captured servant girl worked for Naaman's wife. She told her mistress that Naaman should go and see the prophet Elisha (See Elisha for image of Elisha) who could cure him of leprosy. Naaman got permission from the king and set off with a group of helpers from Damascus to Jerusalem. The King of Israel was unsure what to do until Elisha sent a message inviting Naaman to his house.
  • This part of Naaman's story is found in 2 Kings, chapter 5, verses 2 to 9.
  • Servant girls are also found in the stories of Peter's denial of Jesus and Peter arriving at Mark's mum's house.
  • Servant girl Rhoda appears in our Bible Belles game.

River Jordan

  • When Naaman arrived at Elisha's house, Elisha's servant Gehazi passed on his master's instruction for Naaman to wash in the River Jordan seven times.  Naaman was annoyed at the strange instruction because he had expected Elisha to cure him instantly.  His attendants persuaded him to comply and, after the seventh dip in the water, his skin was clean.  Naaman was cured of leprosy.
  • This part of Naaman's story is found in 2 Kings, chapter 5, verses 10-14.
  • Washing is also found in the stories of Jesus washing the disciples' feet and the woman washing Jesus' feet then drying them with her long hair.
  • Rivers do not appear in any Lootro game yet but watch this space for news.

Gehazi

  • Naaman was so pleased that he offered Elisha gifts of gold, silver and clothes (see Wise Men for image of gifts).  Elisha declined the offer as the miracle had been performed by God, not him.  However, greedy servant Gehazi pretended that Elisha had changed his mind and asked Naaman for a small reward.  Elisha was angry at Gehazi's deceit and the wicked servant was severely punished.
  • This part of Naaman's story is found in 2 Kings, chapter 5, verses 15-27.
  • Generous gifts appear in the stories of Hannah's visits to Samuel, the Queen of Sheba's meeting with King Solomon and the Wise Men's gifts for baby Jesus.
