One day, Isaac and his dad Abraham went for a walk. They took with them a bundle of sticks with which to build an altar fire. God told Abraham to tie up Isaac, place him on top of the sticks and draw his knife. Abraham obeyed but God did not let him kill his son. God had been testing Abraham's faith. There was a ram nearby caught by it's horns in the thorn tree. Abraham sacrificed the ram to God instead of his son Isaac.
