The disciples were a group of people picked by Jesus to work with him during his ministry. They were an odd mix of men from different places and with various jobs and skills. After Jesus ascended into heaven, they went out into the world to share his message.
This part of the disciples' story is found in mark, chapter 3, verses 13 to 19.
The disciples are also found in the stories of Jesus' arrival in Jerusalem, feeding of the 5,000 and their final meal with Jesus known as the last supper.

Four of the disciples were fishermen - brothers Peter and Andrew and brothers James and John. One day, while travelling across lake Galilee in a boat, a storm blew up. The disciples thought they were going to drown so they woke Jesus and he calmed the storm.

One of the disciples, Matthew, was a tax collector for the Romans. Another, Judas Iscariot, was the group's treasurer in charge of their money. Later, he would betray Jesus for 30 silver pieces.

After Jesus died, the disciples were unsure what to do next. While they waited in the house, Jesus appeared to them alive. Later, after Jesus' ascension, they were all in the upper room together when God, in the person of the Holy Spirit, appeared to them.
