The Philistine rulers wanted to capture their enemy Samson so they offered Delilah money to discover the secret of his great strength.

Samson lied to Delilah about the source of his great strength, telling her to tie him up with fresh bow strings or with new rope, and by weaving his hair into a loom. On each occasion, Samson easily escaped Delilah's traps.

Samson temporarily lost his strength when Delilah sneakily arranged for his hair to be cut while he slept. Samson was captured, blinded and imprisoned. While in captivity, his hair grew back and he regained his strength. Samson's final act was to demolish the temple, crushing his enemies and himself.
