Daniel's friends

  • Daniel and his friends Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego were among the young men selected to work for King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon. They were all captured in Judah and forced to live in exile, far away from their home. After Daniel was made Ruler of the Province of Babylon, the king appointed Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego as district administrators.
  • This part of Daniel's friends story is found in Daniel, chapter 2, verses 46 to 49.
  • Daniel's friends do not appear in any Lootro game yet but will appear in our Royalty game.

Nebuchadnezzar

  • King Nebuchadnezzar built a huge statue, or idol, and commanded that everyone was to bow down to it. Anyone who failed to do so would be thrown into a fiery furnace and burnt to death. Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego refused to bow down to the idol because they worshipped the true God. Their jealous rivals reported them to the king.
  • This part of Daniel's friends' story is found in Daniel, chapter 3, verses 1 to 2.
  • Nebuchadnezzar is also found in the stories of the exile to Babylon, the destruction of the Temple and Daniel's interpretation of dreams.
  • Nebuchadnezzar does not appear in any Lootro game yet but will appear in our Royalty game.

Furnace

  • The three friends were dragged before the King Nebuchadnezzar, who ordered them to be tied up and cast into the fire. The furnace was heated seven times hotter than normal. It was so hot that the guards escorting the prisoners to the furnace were killed by the heat. Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego were not afraid because they knew God would be with them.
  • This part of Daniel's friends' story is found in Daniel, chapter 3, verses 13 to 23.
  • Fire is also found in the stories of Moses and the burning bush, Gideon's special army, Elijah's soggy sacrifice and the Holy Spirit's arrival at Pentecost.

Angel

  • When the king looked into the furnace, he saw four figures walking about in the flames. The fourth figure looked like an angel. The king called to Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego to come out of the furnace and he saw that they were unharmed. King Nebuchadnezzar declared their God to be the true God.
  • This part of Daniel's friends' story is found in Daniel, chapter 3, verses 24 to 30.
  • Angels are also found in the stories of Adam's and Eve's banishment, Balaam's talking donkey, Jacob's dream of a ladder, Joseph's warning to flee to Egypt and Peter's rescue from prison.
