Abel's offering was the firstborn of his flock. Abel's choice of the best of his sheep showed his commitment to God.

God looked favourably on Abel because of his devotion. Cain was very upset. He lured his brother into a field where, in a fit of rage, killed him. As a punishment, Cain was banished from his home and the land, never to farm it again.
