There are four Caesars mentioned in the Bible - Augustus, Tiberius, Claudius and Nero, although Nero is not named. Caligula ruled between Tiberius and Claudius but is not mentioned. Jesus was born during the reign of Caesar Augustus.

Caesar Claudius expelled all the Jews from Rome, and they were forced to set up new homes in different countries and regions. Missionary Paul stayed with his exiled friends Aquilla and Priscilla in their new home in Corinth, working with them as a tentmaker.

Christians continued to be persecuted under t he rule of wicked Caesar Nero. Paul appealed to Nero when he was unjustly accused and falsely imprisoned. The apostle was take to Rome and kept under guard for two years before Nero finally heard his case.
