City gates
- Jesus and his disciples were leaving Jericho when they passed Bartimaeus. He had heard the crowd talking about Jesus so he called out to Him for help. Many people in the crowd shouted at Bartimaeus and told him to be quiet but he shouted even louder. Jesus stopped and spoke to Bartimaeus.
- This part of Bartimaeus' story is found in Mark, chapter 10, verses 47 to 49.
- Gates are also found in the stories of Samson carrying away the city gates, Eli breaking his neck and Nehemiah rebuilding the city walls.
