Belshazzar was king of Babylon. He ruled the country after his dad, Nebuchadnezzar, died. Belshazzar threw a great banquet for thousands of his nobles. During the celebrations, the king gave orders to bring out the gold and silver drinking cups that his dad had taken from the Temple in Jerusalem.
This part of Belshazzar's story is found in Daniel, chapter 5, verses 1 to 4.
Belshazzar does not appear in any Lootro game yet but his name can be used as an answer in our Ballyhoo! game.

As his guests drank from the stolen cups, a mysterious hand appeared and started to write strange words on the wall - Mene Mene Tekel Upharsin. The king was so frightened that his legs became weak and his knees started to knock together.

The king summoned his wise men and counsellors. He became even more afraid when none of them could translate the puzzling words. The queen called for Daniel who explained that it was a message from God warning of the end of Belshazzar's rule. Despite his bad news, Daniel was rewarded with a special coat and a gold chain of office, then placed in charge of running the country.
